In last Saturday’s loss to the Portland Stags, Henry Phan threw a masterful outside-in flick.

To his teammates’ amazement, the disc landed softly in the hands of Bren Byerley who was streaking to the front corner of the end zone. Phan earned himself an assist and his first ever Innova Pulsar Throw of the Week.

“First off I’m honored that I threw the dime of the week,” said Phan. “Ha, that is not a throw I practice frequently but it worked. Honestly I was more worried about making the catch, but if you watch the video closely I popped a squat real quick after I released it because I thought I threw it straight out of bounds. I saw Bren cutting across as I was coming down with the catch and thought that was the best option, as you know the saying, shooters gotta shoot!

“Even my teammates told me after the game that the sideline reaction was, ‘What the hell was he thinking!?’ Then we scored and the rest is history. Kobe Bryant would have been real proud of my no holster mentality. I’m waaaaaay up I feel blessed.”

Witness more of Phan’s fancy flicks this Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at Mount Vernon High School for the Rainmakers match against the Vancouver Nighthawks. Tickets are available here.
