The Seattle Rainmakers are excited to announce the signing of Ren Caldwell as their Strength and Conditioning Coach. Seattle Ultimate players will recognize Ren for her work with Seattle’s club team Sockeye over the past several years.

Ren’s familiarity with physical requirements of competitive Ultimate, her experience as a personal trainer with her own gym and training center and her certification with the National Strength and Conditioning Association will bring the Seattle Rainmakers to a whole new level of functional strength, mobility and fitness.

Fans can expect to see her at games on the sidelines, but most of Ren’s work will go on behind the scenes. She will be conducting player evaluations once the roster has been set, and then she will be designing the strength and conditioning program for the entire season, tailoring it as needed to meet the needs of players and coaching staff alike.

The last responsibility that Ren is taking on is a bit more nebulous. “The third part of my role with the Rainmakers is kind of having my ear to the ground in terms of the team and how individual players are working, how the team as a whole is functioning, and being available to make tweaks in the program if we get to a certain point,” she says.

It’s no easy task, but Ren is eager to get started. She expects a great turnout at the open combine tomorrow, and is excited to see how Seattle’s best deal with the conditions. “The wind is going to be crazy. It’s basically like Nationals, but you know, in Seattle. It’s going to be fun, and I’m very much looking forward to it.”
