As the Rainmakers gear up to take on the Nighthawks this weekend, they take a moment to recognize the accomplishments of one of their own in the collegiate Ultimate scene.

Khalif El-Salaam has gotten plenty of facetime here in the MLU, so it only makes sense that he would get accolades for his college play as well. El-Salaam is currently finishing his sophomore year at the University of Washington, where he plays competitively with the men’s team, Sundodgers. The Sundodgers took second place at Northwest D-I College Open Regionals this year, narrowly missing out on the chance to go to College Nationals. In the process, El-Salaam was recognized as an exceptional player and was selected for First Team in the Northwest Region of D-I colleges.

El-Salaam wasn’t the only player in the region who was recognized; there were loads of players from schools around the great state of Washington who brought home awards on both the men’s and the women’s sides. Congratulations to all the players from the University of Washington Sundodgers and Element, Western Washington Dirt and Chaos, Whitman Sweets and Lady Sweets, Pacific Lutheran Reign and Lady Reign, Puget Sound Postmen and Clearcut, and Whitworth Bangarang. Check out the full list here.

All of this speaks to the strong foundation that ultimate players enjoy in the Seattle scene and around the region. It’s been great to watch all these teams play this season, and we look forward to seeing you college flatballers retake the field again soon.
